Kotor, also historically known as Cattaro, is a picturesque town situated along the coastal region of Montenegro, tucked in the secluded part of the Bay of Kotor. Renowned for its medieval fortifications, the town is a significant tourist destination and a focal point for historical research.<\/p>

Out of about 50 churches built from the 13th to the 20th century, many have disappeared, most commonly due to frequent devastating earthquakes.<\/p>
